Oh, my goodness! I have four photos of assorted buds I’m intending to post next, and I’d never come across that quotation from Nin. I do believe I’ll put it to use! Thanks for your use of it, and for these gorgeous photos. I think I spotted one of our Southern Magnolias with a few blooms yesterday. They’re quite different — saucer shaped and white — but they’re all beautiful.
Thank you, Linda.
I’ve got one of those white saucer-shaped Magnolias next to my ‘back gate’. I also photographed some white Magnolias near Nymphaea Lake in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne.
Nymphaea Lake is where I’ve made most of my Water Lilly images, although there were some white ones at the Maribyrnong wetlands pond only a short bus (or long walk) away. Not sure I’ve ever seen lotuses in the gardens and parks here in Melbourne.
That’s a glorious Magnolia. There’s one hidden in a garden by a park not far from us and I posted about it a few years ago as it was such a delight to come upon it unexpectedly. Love the quote too. Perfect!
Great quote, Vicki, and very timely as we are finally getting some spring-like weather here and within this feeling to burst out. Of course, you’re now in autumn and facing winter… so I hope you get to take in and enjoy some warm weather 🙂
Yes, love that quote Vicki, and beautiful bloom.

We used to have one in the garden, but it went when we extended, but a dear friend has a huge one in her yard.

I love magnolias too. What a beautiful shade of pink.

I think the pink one in the first image in this post is one of the loveliest shades of pink I’ve seen.

And I’ll bet Nymphaea Lake had water lilies, or lotuses!

I think I might have used that quote before, but it is a lovely one.
